Favourite moments in Sherlock: John and Mycroft meet —-> the flinch when Mycroft reaches to first touch John’s hand tells so much, because it shows fear and therefore a weakness - and that revelation only scares John more. Although Mycroft isn’t doing a thing, John finally has to pull away. The desperately stoic look he maintains in the moments afterwards really show how utterly terrified he is.
